Last week (27-28/5/2025) ChemStream attended a very interesting conference about Additive Manufacturing organized by the University of Leuven (KU Leuven, BE). This university has a long history of innovative research in 3D printing techniques, so it was quite an honour for ChemStream to present its activities to this academic community.

Although most lectures in the program focused on Metal AM, Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Polymers (LPBF-P) and Extrusion Based AM of thermoplastic materials, some lectures also addressed new developments in Ceramic AM using Binder Jetting and Direct Ink Writing. The latter techniques are closely related to 3D Inkjet Printing or Material Jetting.

Our colleague Wim Van Beek took the opportunity for explaining the audience how UV-curable 3D Inkjet Printing was used in our LifeFab project to produce multi-material printed objects for biomedical applications. It was nice to see that some researchers were very interested in the technique and in the multi-material printed objects we had brought. You can check his presentation via this link.

The possibility to attend an educational tour of the Materials Engineering Department laboratory at the end of the conference provided additional opportunity to ask questions and interact.

We thank the organizers for this excellent conference, both in content, style, atmosphere and timings!
