ChemStream aims to be your dynamic partner to develop and synthesise new bio-based building blocks and to introduce innovative, sustainable chemical formulations and/or technologies. Therefore, we are member of several consortia dealing with innovative R&D projects, funded by VLAIO (Vlaams Agentschap voor innoveren en ondernemen) and the European Commission (Horizon 2020).​

EnzymASE aims at the biocatalytic production of products that contribute to the innovation portfolio of the Flemish partner companies.


The objective of the FANTOAM project is to exploit the versatility of photonic 3D printing methods in the development phase and for low profile production. New fiber connectivity applications will be investigated together with reconfigurable waveguide devices for implementation in next generation fiber networks.​


The main goal of the LORCENIS project is to develop long lasting reinforced concrete for energy infrastructures with lifetime extended up to a 100% under extreme operating conditions.​


The overall goal of MAIA is to fully utilize the natural functionality of biomolecules by catalytically converting preferably waste wood and flax shives into solubilized proto-lignin fractions and a solid (hemi-)cellulose pulp with a main focus on the production of aromatic molecules with a maximized amount of (hydroxyl) functionalities and a (hemi-)cellulose fraction suitable for further processing into paper or functional sugars.​


The InDIRECT project aims to explore new value chains based on underspent organic side-streams. Therefore, two pathways will be developed:

  • Indirect biorefinery of side-streams via insect biomass, which will be fractionated in useful compounds.
  • Direct biorefinery from those side-streams for comparison with the indirect pathway.​


ROBOX will demonstrate the techno-economic viability of bio-transformations of four types of robust oxidative enzymes: P450 monooxygenases (P450s), Baeyer-Villiger MonoOxygenase (BVMOs), Alcohol DeHydrogenase (ADH) and Alcohol OXidase (AOX).

The main goal of the iSAP project is to reduce shrinkage cracks in concrete structures by means of internal curing resulting from the addition of super-absorbent polymers (SAPs). Moreover, the construction elements will possess self-healing behaviour.


The GROENE GEVELS project aims to develop a new and cost efficient system to build green vertical facades based on innovative super-absorbing technical textiles, wherein the plants, the control system and the growth substrate are tuned to each other.
